Who We Are . . .
A Cornerstone
Carmel Baptist Church stands as a source of faith and inspiration to the people of Caroline County and Central Virginia. Since 1773, its main focus and constant ministry has been to share the Good News of Jesus Christ with all people. Carmel places a strong emphasis on missions - both foreign and domestic - and continues to support God's work in the mission field. Our ministry offers security in these uncertain times. We find hope and comfort in God's enduring truth: the Bible. Using a variety of approaches, we seek to discover the many ways the Bible speaks to each of us, whatever our stage in life.
A Strong Future
At Carmel, we are proud of our past and eagerly anticipate tomorrow. We are excited about what God is doing here. We hope you will join us as we continue to grow together to become one with our crucified and risen Lord, Jesus Christ. Because we realize different people find meaning in various styles of worship, we offer opportunities for two distinct worship gatherings, plus a variety of Bible classes. Whichever you choose, please know it is our joy to welcome you here, where you can get to know God, discover just how much He loves you, and find others who care about you too.
How We Worship . . .
Contemporary Worship Service
A casual fit. That is the best way to describe this dynamic service. An informal setting where practical, uplifting messages and great music provide a place for spiritual rejuvenation. Participants of all ages worship together and are encouraged to enter God's presence with joyful and thankful hearts. The service is opened with a blend of high-energy, contemporary music along with more traditional favorites. Technology is used to enhance the experience. Special announcements, song lyrics, scripture, and notes to accompany the message are projected on a large screen. The Contemporary Worship Service begins each Sunday at 8:30 a.m. and lasts approximately one hour.
Fellowship & Light Breakfast
Fellowship is very important at Carmel! What better way to catch up with old friends - and make new ones - than over coffee, juice and a light breakfast! Each week, following the Contemporary Service, our Fellowship Hall brims with warmth as we gather to strengthen bonds of friendship, build new relationships, and increase our sense of community as part of the Body of Christ.
Bible Classes (a.k.a. Sunday School)
We offer Youth & Adult classes for a variety of interest groups. Whether you desire a more traditional Bible study type class or a spirited discussion group - no matter if you are a teenager, or celebrating your golden years, or somewhere in between - we give you the opportunity for mature engagement as you learn about God's word. The Children's classes help instill a strong faith foundation in our little ones. Bible stories, lessons and age appropriate activities such as music, games & crafts, are used to help bring the Bible into focus for students of all ages.
Traditional Worship Service
This service reflects the value of our time-honored expressions of worship and faithfulness. Familiar hymns which have been passed down for generations, as well as some newer selections and praise choruses, blend together to reflect the theme of our Pastor's message. Special music selections by our choir complement the more traditional order of service. The Traditional Service is a more reflective, yet joyful, time of worship. This service is each Sunday at 11:00 a.m.
The focus of worship at Carmel is Jesus.
Both the Contemporary and Traditional Services, and our Bible classes, are
centered on a solid Biblical message. The altars are always open for those
who wish to bring their cares and thanksgiving to the Lord. You may seek to
pray with our Pastor, a Deacon, or on your own. There is also a time to share
your joys, concerns, and words of testimony with others, to encourage all in
their faith in Jesus Christ.
We Have A Place For You . . .
Whether you are single . . . or a family with children . . . or an empty-nester . . . We have a place for you!
At Carmel, we want to give you encouragement, support, strength, and comfort - and we want you to feel free to do the same - no matter where you are in life. As a part of the Body of Christ gathering here, we depend on each other.
For the body is not one member, but many.
Christ is the head of the body - His church.
1 Corinthians 12:14
